Kenny McAfee is an Aerospace Engineer who received his PhD from the University of Maryland. He has a broad range of interests including heat transfer in aerospace systems, electronics packaging, and energy production/conversion. His current research investigates novel approaches to both measuring and reconstructing the heat loads on spacecraft during atmospheric entry.
Kenny received a BS and MS in Mechanical Engineering from Binghamton University (SUNY), graduating Summa Cum Laude. While pursuing his PhD at the University of Maryland, he has been awarded a NASA Space Technology Research Fellowship (NASA) and a Clark Doctoral Fellowship (UMD). Within the Aerospace Engineering department, Kenny served on the Graduate Student Advisory Committee (GSAC), acting as the committee’s the Academic and Professional Chair for two years.
In his free time, Kenny enjoys cycling, tinkering with computers, and spending time outdoors with his Fiancee Breanne and furry friend Freddie.
